Winston began working in regulated industry in 1980 and moved from aircraft engine manufacturing to medical devices in 1990. Winston's experience in medical device manufacturing includes machining, special processing, and sterile packaging of implants and instruments for large-joint orthopedic, otologic, and dental implant devices, as well as domestic and international medical device and biologic product registrations and licensing. Winston joined BioHorizons in 1996 as Director of Operations and Quality Assurance, and holds the academic degrees of Bachelor of Science (1990) – Quality Assurance, University of South Alabama, Mobile, AL; Master of Science (1994) – Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Memphis, Memphis, TN; Master of Business Administration (2003) – Troy University, Montgomery, AL; and Juris Doctor (2013) – Birmingham School of Law, Birmingham, AL. Winston has taught graduate and undergraduate classes in statistics and operations management as an adjunct professor at University of Memphis and Troy University, and is a member of the Alabama State Bar.
